Equipment Overview
The automatic low-level gantry palletizer arranges shrink-wrapped packs into preset layers, lifts and transfers each layer onto a pallet, and builds a multi-layer stack. Automatic empty-pallet feeding and full-pallet discharge support continuous end-of-line operation at up to 30 packs/min.
Siemens PLC and touchscreen HMI control pack arrangement, layer count, pallet supply and discharge. Operators can adjust palletizing patterns on the touchscreen and view production speed and fault information. Pack and pallet dimensions are defined by the customer.

Working Principle
Engineering Highlights
Practical design details that affect operation, changeover, hygiene and maintenance.
Touchscreen recipe control
Siemens PLC + touchscreen HMIAdjust layer patterns and layer counts through the Siemens HMI; production speed and fault location are displayed.
Automatic pallet handling
Approximately 10–15 empty palletsEmpty pallets are supplied automatically and completed pallets are discharged to the designated position.
Safety-door interlocks
Electrical sensing stops operation when a safety door or protective cover is opened.
Flexible stacking patterns
Several stacking patterns can be selected without changing palletizing parts.
Controlled layer transfer
Danfoss VFDVFD-driven motors and chains lift and transfer formed layers for stable placement.
Line Integration
Line Integration
Equipment role and interfaces for this reference application.
Receives shrink-wrapped packs from the secondary packaging conveyor, sorts them into preset layers, lifts each layer onto an automatically supplied pallet, and discharges the completed multi-layer pallet for forklift transfer.
- Upstream infeed: Shrink-wrapped packs from the secondary packaging conveyor; pack dimensions and required layer pattern to be confirmed.
- Pallet supply: Customer-defined pallet dimensions; magazine holds approximately 10–15 empty pallets depending on specification.
- Downstream discharge: Full-pallet conveyor discharge to a designated forklift pickup position.
- Installation envelope: 7,200 × 4,000 × 3,300 mm machine dimensions; confirm maintenance access and material-handling clearance in the layout.
Standard and Optional Configuration
- Pack infeed and sorting
Conveyor turning and sorting arrange packs according to the preset layer pattern.
- Layer forming and lifting
Pneumatic row transfer forms a complete layer; the lifting mechanism transfers it onto the pallet.
- Automatic empty-pallet feeding
Motor-driven pallet supply feeds empty pallets according to the PLC sequence.
- Multi-layer palletizing
Preset layer counts and stacking patterns are controlled through the HMI.
- Full-pallet discharge
Completed pallets leave the palletizing section via the discharge conveyor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about selection, integration and project planning.
What is the maximum output of this palletizer?
The maximum output is 30 packs/min. Sustained performance depends on pack size, layer arrangement, layer count, pallet specification and upstream conveyor matching.
Can pack and pallet dimensions be customized?
Yes. Shrink-wrapped pack dimensions and pallet dimensions are defined by the customer. Provide these dimensions and the required stacking pattern for configuration.
Does the machine automatically supply empty pallets?
Yes. The pallet magazine supplies empty pallets automatically according to the PLC sequence. It holds approximately 10–15 pallets, depending on pallet specification. Completed pallets are discharged through the full-pallet conveyor.
How are stacking patterns and safety functions controlled?
A Siemens PLC and touchscreen HMI control pack arrangement, layer counts, pallet supply and discharge. Operators can adjust stacking patterns on the touchscreen. Electrical interlocks stop the machine when a safety door or protective cover is opened.
